Road to Worlds 2014

The 2nd-9th August 2014 will see the best clubs converge upon Lecco, Italy, to play in the World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC), the most competitive and prestigious international tournament in the club Ultimate calendar. Nice Bristols will be sending a squad of 24 players.

Our journey to WUCC began at UK Ultimate Nationals in August 2013 where we reached the final and guaranteed ourselves a spot at the Extended European Ultimate Club Championships (xEUCF) along with 4 other women’s teams from the UK. An incredibly hard fought game against fellow UK team SYC saw us finish in 9th place, making us the second highest UK women’s team and winning us a coveted spot at WUCC.

Here's a short video of the team in action:

Ultimate is a very physically demanding sport and our fitness programme will ensure that the Worlds squad are at the peak of their physical fitness by the time we reach the tournament in August.

All Worlds players are committed to monthly team training sessions along with weekly training for all Bristol based players.

This is alongside an individual fitness program which involves 2 conditioning and 2 strength sessions/ week.

Financial Commitment

Ultimate is an amateur sport so we are a self-funded club. We have to cover all of our expenses, including training costs, accommodation and transport costs as well as tournament fees. The WUCC is a weeklong tournament so associated costs are significant, roughly £800 per player.

As a squad we think it is important that finances should not be a barrier to this opportunity, especially for our students and recent graduates. We are therefore aiming to fundraise as much as possible. To find out more about how you might be able to help have a look at our Supporting Nice Bristols page.
